Can small be a virtue? Well, if you’re considering schools, absolutely. Our more intimate setting enables kids to be more involved on more levels - in the classroom, in sports, in the arts. Our students regularly attend colleges and universities in Florida, as well as Columbia University and Princeton University, to name a few.
Established in Orlando in 1999, The Crenshaw School has students from Pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade. Crenshaw maintains a low student-teacher ratio. In our close environment, students know they have support from their teachers and friends. They learn to ask questions, think critically and communicate well. Great things come in small packages.
Because we are small, student/faculty/parent partnerships come easier. Our family-centered environment develops academically, culturally, socially, and emotionally strong students. We have students that excel in championship teams, acclaimed fine arts programs and drama programs second to none. One-on-one education and shared classroom and extracurricular experiences are of equal importance here. Grade by grade, you will se how rewarding that is to your child.
To be at Crenshaw is to belong at Crenshaw. And, if we preserve this environment, our students will continue to appreciate and respect each other. While many students will become great leaders, scholars, athletes and artists, our goals is to develop world-class students who can recognize and celebrate the talents in each other. At The Crenshaw School we don’t set out to be the biggest, just the best.
The Crenshaw School has six accreditations. To name of few: Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and Curriculum Improvement (SACS CASI) and the Association of Independent Schools of Florida (AISF). Click here to see the full list of accreditations.
Founded in 1999, The Crenshaw School serves boys and girls in Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12. Crenshaw offers a college-preparatory curriculum designed to help students of varying abilities reach their educational goals. Small classes, individual attention, extracurricular opportunities, and an in-school tutoring program support students at all grade levels. Instruction is geared to a child’s learning style.
The Crenshaw School is a private college preparatory school, which was founded in 1999 by Brenda Crenshaw. In 1997, it started as a private tutoring company. Mrs. Crenshaw privately tutored children who were athletes on the national level and children who were entertainers appearing in feature productions. She discovered these students had a difficult time maintaining attendance policies and homework requirements while in their regular school. Realizing that schools were not set up to meet the needs of these children and could not for various reasons, made her venture out to create a program that would meet all the academic and scheduling needs. Vowing not to have children's dreams be placed on hold because of unbending school programs, The Crenshaw School was formed.
In 1999, the tutoring company was closed and The Crenshaw School was formed. The school quickly became accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS).
Mrs. Crenshaw also developed a Private Instruction Division of The Crenshaw School to include additional students who are schooled off campus. Past and current private students of hers include well-known actors, musicians, and athletes such as Justin Timberlake and Lance Bass of N'Sync; Mandy Moore, film and vocalist; Ty Tryon, PGA golfer; Melanie Sinclair, international elite gymnast; Brittany Snow, American Dreams and Hairspray; and Taylor Ball, Still Standing.
This has led to an amazing program that not only met the needs of her target students, but also resulted in a school with a learning environment that benefits all children. Students who have never been successful in the large classroom setting have soared to excellence in this program.
